what, a {new} blog post?

You can't say I didn't warn you...I did. I knew finding time to update this would be tough, but I have to admit, averaging a new post every month/month and a half is pretty lame. Good news is that summer break is  {almost} officially here, which should free up a little time. Along with a few other things, blogging {semi} weekly is on my never ending to-do list. Bare with me...I'm bound to have some good stuff!

For now, here is a little update of what's been going on with us the past few weeks...

Mother's day started with a bang! My sister, mom and I drove up to Charlottesville and spent the day vineyard hopping with one of mom's dear friends and her daughter. Between the scenery, the wine, the servers, and the conversations, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and vowed to make this and annual trip. Here are a few pics from the day...

The further along we got on the trail, the more we were feeling the need for a photo shoot. In order to retain my dignity, the other pictures will remain under lock and key.
{41.5: We totally need to take our mom's...imagine bachelorette x 20 + moms...LOVE!}

Around 7:15am on Mother's Day, I finally convinced my sis to get up {i.e. kicked her until she rolled out of the bed} so we could head home...I needed to see my babies! I walked in to a plethora of goodies, the best being the giant, poster-board sized card that little man {and hubs} made...home made cards are the BEST! For all of the grandmothers, I made the hand print flower pictures {thanks, Fran!}, which were a total hit. Of course I made an extra one for myself, and good 'ol Auntie CoCo.

Not only is this my favorite time of year because school ends, but there are all sorts of fun things going on for the kiddos, with T-ball and Soccer topping the list. I still have a hard {ok, really hard} time accepting the fact that J is old enough to play sports, but I have to admit, I relish being a little soccer mom. Apparently it's something I've always dreamed of becoming...How cute is this little guy?

love this action shot!

So dramatic, but so darn cute!

hope we have a little athlete on our hands!

I decided to take a little personal day last week and head on over to SHS for Field Day...so glad I did! Considering he will be 5 in less than a month, I might as well take advantage of all these opportunities while he isn't embarrassed by me tagging along. Seeing J in his own element, interacting with his friends was priceless. Her are a few highlights...
{even Izzie tagged along!}

That's all for now. Here's hoping my next post will be within the next seven days!

"santa and the easter bunny must be friends"

That was one of the first things Little Man said when he saw his Easter basket...all because it had bubble gum in it! You may think I'm crazy, for letting a 4 year old {almost 5} chew bubble gum, but you'd be amazed and the things I can convince him to do with gum! He was convinced the Easter Bunny talked to Santa because he had all of his favorite things in his basket...legos, dinosaur book, I Spy book, and a bathing suit. Miss Priss was elated when she found puffs and yogurt melts...I mean, what else is appropriate for a 14 month old? Besides, her favorite thing to do these days is eat!

Sunday morning started off as every other Sunday does...insanely hectic. I decided to wait to cook mac-n-cheese {my assigned dish for lunch with D's fam} until that morning, and as if that wasn't enough, made breakfast for the kids, too. Per the usual, we didn't head out until 8:54...mass begins at 9:00. Oh well, the point is that we made it, all four of us, in one piece. Of course I spent the majority of mass in the nursery with Miss Priss, but considering I went to church Thursday and Friday, I was fine with that. :)

After church we headed over to D's grandmother's for lunch and an Easter Egg hunt...and more Easter baskets.  We ate, played, laughed, and lounged in the sun. Later in the afternoon, we headed to my dad's for dinner, another egg hunt, and even MORE baskets {can we say spoiled?}. I love weekends that are jammed pack with family time. It isn't often that we are all in the same place at the same time.

And this is why...

I never wanted to start a blog. Geez, it's been like what, a month an a half? Oh well, I'm back, with updates of course, which is all that matters. The highlight {acutally, lowlight} of this weekend involved our little man's first "real" injury. While shopping for spring clothes, Jadon managed to run in to a table and bust his eye a little. Things could have been much worse, but at the time, this was a pretty big deal. Glad no stitches were needed and we were able to walk out with just a little sani-strip. I must say, he is one tough little guy! I'm sure this is the first of many more "boy" injuries.

 on the way to the doctor...a little cleaned up

all better {and after the new rescue squad lego set he "earned" for being so good. :)}

In more upbeat news, Jadon's first "real" soccer game was this weekend.  Here are a few favorite snapshots from the day...

partners in crime

at least they are headed in the right direction...

looks like we have a defender on our hands! :)
The best part of the whole day? Pops was strolling Izzy around and during a time-out, Jadon ran off the filed to kiss his little baby sister! Warmed my little heart. Thankful that hubs caught that moment on video! And to think I was worried how J would handle baby #2...

Coming Soon...

Isabella's first birthday! Honestly, I'm just playing around and attempting to figure out how to include pictures in my posts. This one is just too darn cute not to share, so why not start there? I promise to post more soon!

Happy {belated} Valentine's Day!

Hey, better late than never, right?

Holidays are always exciting with a preschooler in the house. Thanks to a few creative teachers, we always get an adorable craft from our little man, and who doesn't like receiving gifts? But the best part is actually giving the gifts. He is so animated these days, the things that come out of his mouth just kill me! Along with a ton of candy that I will probably throw away in a few days, we got him a dinosaur lego set...nothing major, something I picked up last minute (story of my life). When he opened it, he exclaimed "Oh wow Mommy! How did you know? I've been waiting for this guy forever!" and then squeezed both of us. How precious is that? Of course we got Isabella a little something too, but she is too young to really care...tissue paper is present enough for her. And like a dummy, I wrote "Happy 1st Valentine's Day" in her card...her first birthday was 4 days ago, clearly this is not her first Valentine's Day. I blame it all on Mommy Brain. :)

Hubs and I actually got to have a mini-date night. His grandparents watched the kiddos while we enjoyed a quiet, kid-free dinner at one of our favorite Italian restaurants. It was exactly what we needed.

Hope you all had a fabulous day with your valentine!

4 year old + steroids = one messy mama

Those of you that know me probably know that the little man is pretty sick, and a visit to the doctor confirmed it this afternoon. Thankfully, the sweet hubs offered to leave work early to take our little man, which left me with the glorious duty of picking up the meds. Three hours, three different pharmacies and $65 later I returned home with a nebulizer, steroid, and antibiotic. As I carefully read the instructions for all of the medicines and measured out the dosages, I laughed to myself...I knew there was no way our little guy was going to take any of this medicine (and I'd soon find out that I was right, as usual). The only hope I had for getting him to take the medicine was to bribe him with his ticket to the Bobcats/Clippers game for tomorrow night (I may have tried bubblegum, icecream, and oreos too). After about 45 minutes of squirming and screaming, I was able to squirt a little of each medicine down his throat. Go me, right? WRONG! Within seconds of squirting the medicine in his mouth I found myself covered in it. Poor little guy gagged and spit it all on me. I guess that's what I get, I mean I'm pretty sure I'd spit the ish out if someone forced it down my throat, wouldn't you? Thanks to facebook, I got quite a few tricks to try for the next round. An old sorority sister that works at a children's hospital suggested coating his tongue with peanut butter before giving him the medicine...it is supposed to help disguise the awful taste of the steroids. He seemed pretty intrigued when I mentioned the idea tonight, so we'll see how it goes in the morning. I"ll be sure to keep you posted.

Annnnd I blog, weird.

Shocker, right? Maybe not..who cares. I do, and I like it.

So what do I do now? I guess I should start with somewhat of an introduction? Well, I'm a mom (duh) of two...a one year old (as of 2:00pm exactly) and a 4.5 year old.

Not that it's important, but I should add that I'm a "working" mom, and by "working," I mean I'm a teacher, which is quite the ideal position, if you ask me. I have a rather amazing husband, who adores our children and can't live without me (or so I like to think).

I think that's all I'm going share for now...more to be revealed in future posts.

XOXO
